Bastardinho de Azeitão 40 Years José Maria da Fonseca, after many years of aging Bastardinho de Azeitão (Trousseau), we have reached the end of this extraordinary nectar from the Setúbal Peninsula. For a long time we did 25 years, later 20 years and then due to the aging of the bases we went to 30 years. This year, as it was not possible to maintain the same profile, we had to advance to the 40th anniversary. Here the youngest vintage is just 40 years old and the oldest around 80. This wine must be enjoyed with great rigor and solemnity, as it is the last 2300 liters. Note of interest: These vineyards existed between Costa da Caparica and Lavradio and were uprooted due to urban growth. In 1983, the last ton of grapes was delivered to us from a vineyard that was around 90 years old, whose grapes had a probable alcohol potential of 18%. To prevent its extinction, in 2005 we planted half a hectare on one of our properties.
