Chateau Margaux 2015 is a blend with 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
Medium garnet and purple in color, the nose presents seductive notes of warm blackberries, cassis and black forest cake with hints of forest floor, sandalwood, anise and cigar, plus a little lavender.
In the mouth it is full-bodied, providing tense, muscular, densely packed black fruit flavors and layers of exotic spice flavors supported by a very firm backbone of grainy tannins with a large amount of freshness and a long, tasty finish.
It is a very young wine, still needing at least 15 years in the cellar, at that time being a classic Chateau Margaux of incredible proportions.
A wine bottled in a beautiful special commemorative bottle that pays homage to winemaker Paul Pontellier, who passed away in 2016. The black bottle engraved in gold bears the message "Hommage à Paul Pontellier" at the bottom. This 2015 is an achingly beautiful swan song from an incredibly talented winemaker, taken from us too soon.
According to Robert Parker, this alone makes this harvest worth more than the investment for the many history-in-a-bottle lovers.
