Cortes de Cima 2016 Red produced in Alentejo. In 1988, a couple made up of a Danish man and an American woman set out on a sailboat looking for a place to raise a family, plant a vineyard and produce wine... and so begins the story of Cortes de Cima, currently one of the main wineries Portuguese. Located in Vidigueira, Cortes de Cima is a family property managed daily by Hans and Carrie Jorgensen, with an area of 140 ha of vineyards, producing the grape varieties Aragonez, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Petit Verdot, Antão Vaz and Verdelho. The oldest vines were planted in 1991 when the Syrah grape variety was not permitted by the region's regulations. Even so, Hans, convinced that he had the ideal climate and soil for this Rhône variety, created the first “illegal” Syrah wine, produced in 1998 and marketed under the name Incógnito, which quickly gained fame in Portugal and medals in London, Brussels and Bordeaux.
