Ferreira Lágrima is an incomparable white Port Wine, of great richness and intensity, with the genuine flavor of the best wines produced in the Douro region with the care and knowledge accumulated over more than 250 years of excellence that make Ferreira the oldest and celebrated Portuguese brand of Port Wine in the world. The grapes are de-stemmed and vinified using the traditional Port Wine method. Fermentation, which transforms the natural sugar of the grapes into alcohol, takes place under controlled temperatures. To obtain wines like this Porto Ferreira Lágrima Branco, it is important to choose fragrant and rich grape varieties, such as Moscatel, and pay attention to the fermentation stopping point, earlier than usual in other Ports, which allows a degree of higher sweetness. The final balance between the body and aroma of Port Wine comes from the combination of the different characteristics of the multiple grape varieties used. The wine is in the Douro where the cold of winter helps deposit the lees. The following spring, after being cleaned, it is transported to the Ferreira cellars in V.N.Gaia and placed in oak barrels where it will age over several years, acquiring the incomparable style of the Porto Ferreira brand. During aging, the wines are cared for and tasted by the oenology team who blend them until reaching the final batch with the characteristics and style of Porto Ferreira Lágrima Branco. The selected wines are normally aged between 2 and 5 years, guaranteeing a rich and balanced final wine, aged around 3 years.
