Caves São João 97 Anos de Historia 2014 - Red, appears almost in the final stretch for the centenary of Caves São João, such a classic Bairrada company. The Caves São João 97 Anos de História red 2014 is a very elegant and light Baga pure (12.5% alcohol), from a difficult year for the red grapes of Bairrada, due to the rainy month of September. José Carvalheira, winemaker at the house, confirmed this by saying that “It was only with very careful viticulture that we were able to make this Baga in 2014”. He also recalled: “For the first time in a few years we decided to create a wine that was 100% from this grape variety”. Fermented in a mill, it aged for 12 months in oak, 18 months in cement vats and three months in bottle.
Deep ruby in color, with a very fine and elegant aroma, with notes of eucalyptus, resins, black fruits, dried figs, hay and spices, typical of this variety.
It presents a beautiful structure, freshness and length in the mouth. Perception of aromatic sensations, felt through direct nasal olfaction. Tannins present, but well tamed. Great aging capacity
It should be served at a temperature of 17/18 º C. Recommended to accompany roasted or grilled meats, fatty fish, game and cheeses, among many other delicacies with intense flavors and textures. This wine has an aging potential of at least 15 years.
