Château Pape Clément is one of the oldest Grands Crus in the Bordeaux region. The first production dates back to 1252. The name of this property arose when Bertrand de Goth, the youngest of a noble family in the region and Archbishop of Bordeaux, became Pope in 1305 under the name of Clement V.
