Joana and António Maçanita had a dream for a long time. Create a wine with its own character and personality, in the style of the two brothers and winemakers. The opportunity arose in the Douro region, where Joana carries out part of her professional activity. Among terraces and vineyards at the top, she came across a very special raw material, impossible to remain indifferent, she called António and challenged him. In 2011, the roots were laid for the Maçanita brothers' project in the Douro. The vineyards are located in Douro, Cima Corgo sub-region, close to Pinhão. They were carefully chosen to fit the right profile, grapes with a lot of concentration, richness and freshness. The two brothers visit the vineyards together in operations that determine the quality and health of the grapes. With an uninventive oenology, in which the extraction of the color and structure of the wine is done gently and slowly, Maçanita wines are, the pure expression of “Maçanita” oenology, the fruit above all.
